TTBS gears up for a busy 2026

The Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society (TTBS) is gearing up for another busy year. Here Christella Golby, General Manager of TTBS, discusses the charity’s beginnings, and a snippet of what’s to come in 2026.

The Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society (TTBS) is the timber industry’s own charity, established in 1897 and dedicated to supporting current and former employees of the timber industry, together with their dependents  who may be facing financial difficulty. We have eight regional committees covering the whole of the UK.

Latest initiatives

One of our flagship initiatives for 2026 is to offer free Mental Health First Aider training courses to  our supporters  to equip companies with the skills to recognise poor mental health and be able to offer support.

The next course will be held on Tuesday 17 February 2026 and Tuesday 24 February 2026 from 9.30am to 1.30pm. You can find out more about the course here: TTBS announces new mental health awareness course – The Joinery Network

These courses reflect the TTBS’ commitment to promoting healthier working environments and better wellbeing across the timber industry.

TTBS will also be hosting a National Golf Day. This will be held on 9 July 2026 and is being sponsored by Trade Fabrication Systems.  More information to follow in the coming weeks.

Over 100 years of support

For well over a century, the TTBS has provided grants and welfare support to those in need, helping people through challenging periods of their lives.

Alongside financial assistance, TTBS offers access to expert financial advice and personalised support to help beneficiaries manage any debt or wider money concerns.

It can also provide confidential APPT approved counselling for issues that may be causing anxiety and sleepless nights – whether linked to ill health, debts or unpaid bills.

For further information on how you can help the TTBS or if you are interested in assisting one of its Regional Committees, please contact Christella Golby, General Manager at: info@ttbs.org.uk
