Two new employees through the door at Doorassure

Stockport-based family-owned RW Joinery, which manufactures specialist joinery and bespoke performance doorsets, has appointed two new team members following a continued growth of its dedicated maintenance, repair, and inspection division, Doorassure.

The division’s new recruits are Raymond Ng, who joins the estimating department and has worked in project management and fit-out for large companies spreviously.

He joins Katherine Penrose, who is appointed as a Business Development Associate, working with the Sales and Marketing team. This is Katherine’s first job after completing a BA Honours Degree in history from the University of York.

RW Joinery launched Doorassure earlier this year to meet critical sectors’ growing demand for dedicated fire door maintenance support.

Fire doors are a legal requirement in all non-domestic properties, and formal regulations now govern the guidelines detailing their installation and performance.  On average, 85% of the fire doors inspected by Doorassure fail to meet the legal standard. However, the specialist advises that 75% of those could be repaired.

Sally Robinson, Director of RW Joinery and Doorassure, said: “Changing legislation means clients are responsible for the integrity and performance of their doors and the risk associated with non-performance and compliance. With the correct maintenance, internal doorsets should last a lifetime, not the short time they are under warranty. Doorassure’s continued growth reflects our ability to meet that need, educate the supply chain and help customers manage the lifetime responsibility of their doors.

“We are already on target to achieve our first-year revenue target of £5m in new business. Having established ourselves on numerous frameworks and winning significant projects with NHS and university sites nationwide, we’re seeing strong demand for turnkey fire door support.

“Raymond and Katherine join the business at an exciting time and we welcome them to the team.”

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch. With scrutiny and regulations tightening, he argues that specification, installation and maintenance need to be treated as seriously as the doors themselves because firemongery is frontline safety.
