TJN’s Andy Ball gear up for charity Inca Trail challenge

Andy Ball, Managing Director of The Joinery Network, is taking part in the PiGs Charity Challenge 2026 on the world-renowned Inca Trail this October to raise vital funds and awareness for Harry’s Pals.

From 2 to 11 October 2026, Andy will embark on a demanding five-day trek through the Peruvian Andes, culminating at the iconic Machu Picchu. The challenge will see him, alongside a team from within the glazing industry, navigate ancient Inca-paved paths, climb through dense cloud forest, and tackle the formidable Dead Woman’s Pass at an altitude of 4,200 metres.

The trek is widely regarded as one of the most physically demanding hiking routes in the world, with steep ascents and descents compounded by high altitude conditions. Despite the challenge, Andy is clear about the motivation behind taking it on.

“This is going to be a real test, both physically and mentally,” said Andy. “But challenges like this put things into perspective. The families supported by Harry’s Pals are facing situations far tougher than anything we’ll experience on the trail. That’s what will keep us going.”

Andy’s connection to the charity began during the PiGs Kilimanjaro Challenge 2024, where he met Andrew Charlesworth, father of Harry and a key figure behind the charity. That experience left a lasting impression.

“Meeting Andrew and hearing first-hand about the work Harry’s Pals does make it impossible not to get involved,” Andy added. “Sarah, my wife and PiGs challenge leader, and I knew we wanted to support in any way we could.”

Harry’s Pals provides vital emotional support to parents navigating the devastating reality of a child being diagnosed with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. The charity offers a unique support system for families facing extraordinary emotional and practical pressures.

As annual sponsors of PiGs AKA People in Glazing Society, The Joinery Network has a strong history of supporting industry-led charitable initiatives. Harry’s Pals has also been named the organisation’s Charity of the Year, with the Inca Trail challenge forming a key part of its fundraising efforts.

“We believe this challenge can help raise both vital funds and awareness,” said Andy. “Harry’s Pals delivers something truly special for families in incredibly difficult circumstances, and we’re proud to support them.”
