TJN looks to the future with Biesse’s CNC manufacturing

The Joinery Network (TJN) attended Biesse’s Technology Day which had a dedicated focus on solid wood solutions at its Daventry showroom on 21 May.

In collaboration with Biesse’s partners The Joinery NetworkLeitz Tooling UK Ltd, CalWin and Palmer Timber Ltd,  the day showcased the latest advancements in machinery, software, materials and tooling. Together, these innovations are helping UK manufacturers improve productivity and operational efficiency.

Three directors from The Joinery Network, Andy Ball, Owen Dare and Erin Woodger, attended the day as experts in window and door manufacture.

Andy Ball, Managing Director of The Joinery Network, said: “This was a highly informative day, and very timely as it’s becoming increasingly apparent is that CNC technology is the next step in scaling production of timber windows and doors, which is a growth sector in the current climate.

“Lignum is a comprehensive range of windows and doors, and our tooling partner Leitz UK has developed the tooling and programming for the Rover 5-Axis to enable straightforward manufacture across the complete product suite.

“The demonstration saw the marrying of the systemisation of TJN’s Lignum with the flexibility and speed of production offered by the Biesse Rover 5-Axis. The consistency and accuracy of CNC manufacturing allows businesses to scale production of Lignum windows and doors, and this gives joinery companies the level of efficiency they need to compete in the UK market, both for trade and commercial developments.

“Face to face events like this are always good especially as TJN is built on strong partnerships and collaboration, and it was fantastic to catch up with the teams from Biesse, Leitz and CalWin.”

Andy added: “Alongside window and door manufacturing, it was also great to see the latest developments in furniture production, especially as we share the same passion for solid wood. Huge thanks to Biesse for hosting a great day.”
