The Joinery Network returns to FIT Show 2027

The Joinery Network will return to FIT Show 2027, reinforcing the growing presence of timber at the UK’s only dedicated exhibition for the fenestration industry, and helping installers understand the opportunities, requirements and practical realities of working with timber.

Taking place at the NEC Birmingham from 18 – 20 May 2027, FIT Show will bring together manufacturers, suppliers, fabricators, installers, joiners, contractors, architects and specifiers from across the window, door, glass, glazing, roofing and building sectors.

The Joinery Network is a co-operative of specialist companies supporting businesses that manufacture or install timber windows and doors.

Through its Lignum system and wider network of partners, it provides access to certified products, testing, hardware, tooling, software, training, technical advice and business support.

Strengthening the timber market

The Network’s Lignum system provides joinery manufacturers with access to fully tested timber windows and doors designed to help them meet relevant Building Regulation requirements, including PAS 24 and Document Q.

Its wider aim is to strengthen UK joinery manufacturing and help more businesses grow confidently in the timber market.

Growing visitor interest in timber

The Joinery Network’s return will support FIT Show’s expanding focus on timber and provide a platform for its members, partners and affiliates to connect directly with installers and other businesses looking to develop their timber offering.

Timber accounted for more than 9% of all material interests recorded by FIT Show visitors in 2025, while timber systems represented more than 16% of systems-related interest.

The event also attracted 559 joiners, nearly 2,000 fabricators and more than 2,500 installers, highlighting the relevance of the audience for timber businesses.

Helping installers understand timber

The Joinery Network is focused on helping installers understand how timber products can be specified, supplied and installed successfully, from standard products through to bespoke solutions.

Its FIT Show presence will aim to demystify timber and show visitors what is possible, what needs to be considered and where expert support can make a difference.

“We are speaking to more and more installers who want to work with timber,” said Andy Ball, The Joinery Network.

“Timber is one of the fastest-growing areas of interest in the sector, but there can still be uncertainty around the products, the process and the level of expertise required.

“Our role is to make that journey clearer. Visitors should be able to come to FIT Show and see what is available, understand the difference between off-the-shelf and bespoke joinery, and learn what is needed to deliver a successful installation.”

Live demonstrations and practical guidance

The Joinery Network will deliver practical demonstrations through the FIT Show Demo Zone, which will include a start-to-finish timber installation journey.

This is likely to cover product selection, ordering, design, manufacture, coatings, glazing, installation and aftercare, while also showing where timber solutions may be appropriate for different project types.

FIT Show 2027 visitors will benefit from live demonstrations and face-to-face advice on:

• When to choose bespoke or standard timber products.
• What conservation officers may require.
• Timber windows and doors for refurbishment and renovation.
• Glazing, coatings and maintenance.
• Installation best practice.
• Compliance and certification.
• Working with joinery manufacturers.
• The role of timber in future homes and sustainable construction.

Compliance, testing and certification

The need for practical guidance is becoming increasingly important as regulation, testing and compliance requirements continue to evolve.

The Joinery Network has invested significantly in testing, including work linked to the Future Homes Standard, PAS 24 and Document Q.

It is also working to help joinery companies understand requirements around CE marking, certification and compliance.

“Businesses are facing substantial costs and increasingly complex requirements,” said Andy.

“We have invested heavily in testing and compliance because we want to help our members and partners understand what is required and make sure they are properly prepared for what is coming next.

“There are still companies across the sector that do not fully understand their obligations. That is not unusual, but it does create risk.

“Installers need to know that the products they are buying are properly tested, correctly documented and suitable for the application.”

Building supply chain resilience

The Joinery Network is also developing a wider network of joinery companies, giving installers access to established manufacturers and helping to address one of the common challenges in the sector: capacity and lead times.

“When a joinery company becomes busy, lead times can quickly move from eight weeks to 30 weeks,” Andy explained.

“Our network gives installers access to a broader group of capable businesses, helping to create more choice and resilience in the supply chain.”

“We want to create a joined-up timber experience at FIT Show.

“Installers should be able to see the products, understand the manufacturing process, learn about coatings and glazing, and speak to the people who can help them deliver the finished project – the entire timber eco-system.

“Timber should not feel like a closed or specialist world. With the right support, it can be a real opportunity for installers and businesses looking to diversify.”
