The gift of giving at the Glazing Summit

The gift of giving at the Glazing Summit

The Glazing Summit, organised for the first time by Mark Allen Business, ran a charity auction in aid of Kelly’s Heroes at its Gala Dinner after the conference. Modern Joinery Founder and PiGs STY Master, Sarah Ball, was asked to speak to introduce the charity to the evening dinner guests.

Sarah was happy to accept the challenge, and she was able to share her recent experiences of climbing Kilimanjaro for the suicide prevention charity.

The evening was well attended, and among the guests were 11 of the 16 Kelly’s Heroes climb Kilimanjaro team. This meant it was the perfect opportunity to say thank you to them all and their amazing commitment to both the challenge and fundraising.

As many of the donations came from friends within the glazing industry, it was also a prime time to say thank you to all the companies and individuals in the industry who had put their hands in their pockets who supported the PiGs charity of the year.

The reason Sarah was asked was because it was the same charity benefiting from the silent auction.

Sarah said: “Before I spoke, the video of the climb was played, and it was very well received. The glazing industry is massively generous with both time and money. We support so many charities and it’s one of the joys of being part of this industry. To have a moment to say thank you in person, was just amazing.

“And hopefully it meant that people dug a little deeper in their pockets in the silent auction at the Glazing Summit. Thank you again to everyone who supported Kelly’s Heroes both through the Kilimanjaro climb and at the auction.”

“Over £4,500 was raised on the night, which just reiterates how generous our sector is!”

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch.
