Pilkington appoints Ellie Burrows as UK Product Manager

Pilkington United Kingdom, part of the NSG Group, has appointed Ellie Burrows as UK Product Manager, aiming to accelerate innovation and product development across its architectural glass portfolio.

Ellie joins Pilkington UK’s commercial team from the business’ R&D function, where she has spent the past three years working in online coatings as part of its thin film technology group.

Having joined Pilkington UK through its graduate scheme in 2023, she is said to bring technical experience of glass innovation, coating technology and product development into a customer-facing role.

As UK Product Manager based at the Pilkington Technology Centre in Lathom, Lancashire, Ellie will work closely with Pilkington UK’s commercial, technical, R&D and manufacturing teams.

Her focus will be on understanding customer and market needs, identifying opportunities for new products and innovations, and collaborating on how Pilkington UK can support customers developing next-generation solutions.

Customers and specifiers will have a direct point of contact in Ellie for discussions around new product development and innovation opportunities.

Ellie will also support the continued development and growth of key Pilkington UK product ranges for the architectural market, including Pilkington K Glass, as well as Texture by Pilkington — the company’s refreshed and reorganised patterned glass range, launched at the end of last year to meet demand for privacy, natural light and decorative design in modern interiors.

Ellie said: “Glass plays a critical role in how buildings perform, look and feel, and the right specification can make a significant difference to everything from energy efficiency and comfort to privacy, safety and design impact.

“My role is about connecting customers and the trade with our technical and R&D expertise, so we can work together on the innovations they need.

Having worked closely with the science and innovation behind our products, I understand what’s possible and I want to help customers explore how we can develop solutions that meet their ambitions.

“By listening to what customers need and developing the products that help them succeed is where Pilkington UK add real value to the industry.”

Leo Pyrah, Head of Commercial at Pilkington UK, added: “Ellie’s appointment strengthens the technical expertise within our commercial team and enhances the support we can provide to architects, specifiers and customers across the UK.

“She brings a strong understanding of our products, our manufacturing processes and the innovation that underpins our portfolio.

“That makes her ideally placed to act as a direct point of contact for customers and the trade, connecting them with our technical and R&D expertise to explore new product possibilities.

“Her move from R&D into product management also reflects the depth of talent we are developing within the business.

“Ellie has already built a strong technical foundation at Pilkington UK, and in this new role she will help ensure our customers have the insight, confidence and support they need to specify the right glass for their projects.”
