National Golf Day raises £7.6k for industry charity

Furniture industry colleagues from around the UK flocked to Northamptonshire in July to tee off at the National Golf Day, The Furniture Makers’ Company’s longest running charity event, sponsored by Bensons for Beds.

Almost 50 golfers took part in the tournament at the Northamptonshire County Golf Club – ranked in the UK’s top 100 courses.

The day started with breakfast which was followed by an 18-hole Stableford competition. After a great day of play, competitors sat down to a two-course lunch, with the day culminating with a prize giving ceremony, charity auction and raffle.

The event raised a total of £7,663 for the charity.

The winners of the competition were:

• Team winner – Ocee & Four Design

• Team runner up – NEJ Stevenson

• Individual winner – Martin Flowers

• Runner up – Jim Sutherland

The Furniture Makers’ Company said it was very grateful for the companies and individuals that sponsored the event: Bensons for Beds, Jay-Be, Ocee & Four Design, NEJ Stevenson and Crofts & Assinder.

Brian Ahern, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “I would like to say a wholehearted thank you to the golfers and our generous sponsors, especially our main event sponsor Bensons for Beds, who helped make this event a great success. We are delighted that just over £7,600 has been raised for the charity.”
