Industry veteran Mark Goldsmith launches MG Headhunting

After over two decades headhunting leadership, technical and niche roles solely within fenestration and the Building Products industry, Mark Goldsmith has announced that MG Headhunting is now open for business.

His experience within fenestration is said to speak for itself; having built out leadership teams almost from scratch, with examples being four of the five boardroom directors at a UK System House, and the senior team at a Fabricator as it grew its share of the social housing market.

Alongside that, he’s successfully led plenty of niche sales and technical hires that have moved UK businesses goals forward.

Mark says his primary aim is to use this experience to guide manufacturers about how is best to approach a new search and attract the best talent.

Not only does this involve him accessing his extensive network, but mapping out the given market and advising on allied industries to bring best practice into our industry.

Mark explained that he continues to love this industry, in part due to the people, and the manufacturing element itself.

He said: “I feel there’s something satisfying about a raw material becoming a product that ends up framing a building (no pun intended!).”

Additionally, he points out that the industry has evolved.

He explained: “Ten years ago, half the brief was ‘find me someone decent’ Contacts held substantial weight.

“Now the requirements from a position are sharper; from understanding what’s broken or what the end goal and gaps are before reaching for a job spec, to pushing back on assumptions about what “good” looks like.

“Being a sounding board rather than a CV sifter is where real value is added.”

According to Mark, good recruitment isn’t filling positions. It should be diagnosing what’s genuinely missing and how that need translates into a person specification against market availability.

If you’re weighing up a leadership or hard-to-fill hire, or just fancy a catch-up now Mark is doing things “on his own terms”, you can contact him via: mgoldsmith@mgheadhunting.co.uk or connect with him via linkedin.com/in/markgoldsmith2
