Golf day raises £6,300 for Furniture Makers’ Company
Retailers, manufacturers and suppliers came together in Northamptonshire for The Furniture Makers’ Company’s annual National Golf Day, sponsored by Bensons for Beds, in July, raising £6,300 for the industry charity.
The event, which is the charity’s longest-running fundraiser, took place on Wednesday 15 July at Northamptonshire County Golf Club, where golfers reportedly enjoyed glorious summer sunshine and tested their skills in hot conditions.
Companies from across the sector, including: Bensons for Beds, Bisley, Blum UK, Burbidge & Son, Castelan Group, Ercol, Halstock, KI, NEJ Stevenson, Ocee & Four Design and The Stone Company, took part in a day of friendly competition, networking and fundraising.
Following breakfast, players competed in an 18-hole Stableford tournament on one of the UK’s top 100 golf courses before a prize-giving ceremony and enjoying a well-earned two-course dinner.
Among the day’s standout performances, Paul Price of Bisley was crowned Best Individual, with Paul Hunnisett of The Stone Company taking the runner-up spot.
In the team competition, Blum claimed first place, while Burbidge & Son finished as runners-up.
Jessica Alexander, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “The National Golf Day continues to be a fantastic fixture in our events calendar, bringing colleagues together for a great cause.
“We’re incredibly thankful to our sponsors, teams and individuals who took part and helped raise over £6,300 for our charity.”
The Furniture Makers’ Company would like to thank all those who supported the event, particularly headline sponsor Bensons for Beds, as well as Blum, Bisley, Castelan, Ercol and The Stone Company, whose sponsorship helped ensure another successful National Golf Day.
