FUHR launches automatic locking solution for pivot doors

FUHR has introduced a new automatic locking solution for pivot doors, designed to secure both the wide and narrow sides of the door leaf.

The locking system is said to support the growing demand for large-format entrance doors in premium residential and commercial projects, where scale and design impact must be matched by security, seal tightness and reliable operation.

Pivot doors are increasingly specified for their clean lines and architectural presence, but their size and opening action can reportedly make locking more complex.

FUHR’s solution is said to address this, with automatic multipoint locking on both sides of the leaf, helping to support the stability, weather performance and security required for larger door designs.

The system combines the autosafe 835Pivot on the wide side of the door with the standard autosafe 835 automatic locking system on the narrow side. Both are supplemented by an autotronic motor drive, enabling synchronised motorised opening and secure automatic locking across the door.

FUHR’s DuoSecure locking technology features strong hook bolts to lock the door securely, while additional latching bolts help create a tight seal.

This is said to be particularly important for large pivot doors, where movement, stability and weather performance need to be considered together.

The autosafe 835Pivot also incorporates switching contacts, allowing the motor drives on both sides of the door leaf to operate in synchronisation.

Opening can be activated using an access control system, push button, lever handle or cylinder, providing flexibility across different project requirements.

An optional permanently open function is also available without the need for an additional control unit.

Paul Balfe, Business Development Manager at FUHR UK, said: “Pivot doors are often specified for their visual impact, but the locking system has to support the way the door actually performs.

“Locking on both the wide and narrow sides of the leaf helps provide the security, sealing and stability these larger doors require, while motorised opening keeps operation convenient for the user.”

The system uses standard components across a wide range of requirements, with extensions available for taller doors and solutions suitable for different door materials.

Access control systems and SmartAccess can also be integrated where keyless or automated entry is required.
