From Rock Bottom, A Journey Back: Greg’s Cycling Challenge

Greg Du-feu, Managing Director of dufeu IT, is sticking the lycra back on and donning the cycle shoes, as part of the Kelly’s Heroes From Rock Bottom, A Journey Back cycling challenge. Here he gives us his thoughts on the upcoming ride.

This September, I’ll be joining Kelly’s Heroes for their most ambitious challenge yet – “From Rock Bottom, A Journey Back”, a 1,250-mile cycling journey from Gibraltar back to the UK. Starting 6th September 2025, the 14-day ride will see us tackle 60,000 ft of climbing in high temperatures and across challenging terrain.

I first met John Hewitt, Founder and Owner of Glazerite Windows, while supporting the company’s IT infrastructure. It was through John that I came to know his daughter, Kelly Hewitt.

Kelly’s humour and positive energy left a lasting impression on me, and John’s determination to honour her legacy through Kelly’s Heroes has been nothing short of inspiring.

In the past, I’ve supported Kelly’s Heroes by raising funds and awareness through solo endurance challenges – including climbing Mont Blanc and completing an Ironman within just nine months of taking up triathlon.

This year’s ride will be my first team challenge, bringing together a group of riders all united by the same mission.

We ride not only in memory of Kelly, but also my good friend Jonathan “Jock” Sanders, who sadly passed away in June 2025.

I’m aiming to raise significant funds to support Kelly’s Heroes’ mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health and provide vital support to those in crisis. Any support from the PiGs community in spreading the word would be hugely appreciated.
