Brookeswood Directors complete charity Peak District trek
Towards the end of June 2026, and in the middle of a heatwave, Brookeswood Directors, Sue and Brad Brookes took on the Trek26 Peak District challenge to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society.
The 13-mile route started and finished in Bakewell and took them through the stunning Peak District National Park, which also included the Chatsworth Estate.
Brad and Sue were part of a team called THQ Trekkers, with every member completing the challenge within the designated timeframe, despite the hot and humid conditions. The team effort is reportedly what got everyone through!
The event was held to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. The charity is dedicated to building understanding, supporting more people affected by dementia and funding groundbreaking research into the disease.
For Sue, the cause was said to be personal. Having lost her Mum to the disease more than two years ago, supporting Alzheimer’s Society was an opportunity to honour her memory, while helping families facing the same journey.
Sue said: “Taking part in Trek26 was physically demanding, especially in the heat, but every step reminded me why we were doing it.
“Losing my mum to dementia was heartbreaking, and I know first-hand the impact this disease has on families.
“If our efforts help raise awareness, fund research, or provide support for even one family, then every mile was worthwhile.
“I couldn’t be prouder to have completed the challenge alongside Brad and the rest of the THQ Trekkers.”
The team at Brookeswood is said to be incredibly proud of Sue and Brad’s achievement and their commitment to supporting such an amazing cause!
