Andy Ball completes Inca Trail challenge in aid of Harry’s Pals

Andy Ball, Managing Director of The Joinery Network (TJN), has completed the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu as part of the PiGs AKA People in Glazing Society Charity Challenge team, raising money for Harry’s Pals.

The 13-strong team, known as Machu PiGchu, tackled the five-day trek in Peru to support the charity, which provides vital help to parents whose babies and children have been diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses or disabilities.

For Andy, reaching the summit of Dead Woman’s Pass at 4,215 metres was a particularly significant achievement, having suffered badly with altitude sickness throughout the challenge.

“I’m absolutely exhilarated to have completed the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu for Harry’s Pals,” said Andy.

“I suffer terribly from altitude sickness, so reaching 4,215 metres at the top of Dead Woman’s Pass was both brutal and incredible. I honestly don’t think I would have made it without the amazing team around me, encouraging me to the top.

“I pushed myself harder than I ever imagined, and I’d love to make this challenge count for those families. Harry’s Pals supports parents whose lives have been turned upside down by a diagnosis, providing support when they need it most.”

All team members funded their own places on the challenge, meaning all money raised goes directly to Harry’s Pals. The team has already attracted considerable support from across the glazing industry, but donations are still welcome.

Andy added: “This was a huge personal challenge, but knowing we were doing it for such an important cause kept us going. Every donation, however small, makes a difference, and I’d be incredibly grateful for any further support.”

The team also including fellow TJN Director, Samantha Nuckey, and Andy’s wife Sarah Ball, PiGs AKA People in Glazing Society organiser, alongside fellow industry professionals who completed the trek together.
