TJN’s Andy Ball’s day out supporting Lignum members

TJN’s Andy Ball’s day out supporting Lignum members

It was a busy day for The Joinery Network’s (TJN) Andy Ball recently (16 September 2026), visiting suppliers and Lignum partners to find practical ways to support members and keep them ahead of Future Homes Standard legislation coming into force in 2027.

The day included access to the latest glazing solutions, as well as accurate performance calculations to software that can make designing and manufacturing Lignum windows and doors easier.

First stop was the Clayton Glass open day in Swindon, which included a factory tour and the opportunity to catch up with Ryan Green.

Andy and Ryan discussed Clayton Glass’s new slimmer triple glazing units, Triple 28, and how they can be used with the Lignum fully certified timber window system.

Having access to glazing options that work with the Lignum system gives manufacturers greater flexibility when specifying and manufacturing high-performance timber windows. There was also a chance to catch up with Kevin Jones from GGF.

In the afternoon, Andy headed over to TJN’s Affiliate Partner, Joinerysoft, in Chipping Norton to catch up with MD Alan Turner.

They discussed the value of software for Lignum timber window and door manufacturers, particularly how the right tools can help simplify design, specification and production.

Alan also gave Andy a live demonstration of the Lignum system, including accurate U-value calculations, showing how software can help manufacturers quickly establish the performance of their designs.

Andy said: “It was a really useful day and a good opportunity to get out and talk directly to the people developing the products and services that support Lignum.

“Our members need more than just a timber window and door system – they need access to the right glazing, software, technical support and expertise to make it work effectively for their businesses.

“Days like this help us make sure we’re continuing to build that support around them.”

For Lignum, these visits are an important part of developing the support available to members and making sure the system continues to connect manufacturers with the products, technology and expertise they need.
