Structural Timber Association appoints Darren Jarman to board

The Structural Timber Association (STA) has announced Darren Jarman, Managing Director of Lowfield Timber Frames, as the latest addition to its Board of Directors.

With over 25 years’ experience in the UK timber construction sector, spanning design, technical development, manufacturing and business leadership, Darren is said to bring a wealth of expertise to the STA Board.

Speaking on his appointment, Darren said: “Initially, I was surprised yet honoured to be asked to take up such a position.

“Having been involved first-hand with some of the STA’s work, much of which goes unseen by many, I know the association has a crucial role to play in supporting the industry, and it’s something I’m proud to be part of. I’m passionate about the future of our industry, and this role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to its continued development.

“I’m looking forward to working with Andrew and my fellow directors to support our members moving forward.”

Having begun his career as a timber frame designer, Darren progressed through technical and operational leadership roles to successfully lead Lowfield Timber Frames through a period of significant growth.

The company has over 150 employees and has established itself as a leader in sustainable and high-performance timber construction.

Andrew Orriss, Interim CEO of the Structural Timber Association, said: “Darren has a wealth of experience within the timber industry and will bring valuable insight to the STA Board.

“As a group, we’re continually looking for new ways to deliver long-term value for our members, and I’m confident that Darren’s expertise and perspective will help shape our strategic direction and strengthen the support we provide to the sector.

“I look forward to working with him and welcoming him to the Board.”

The STA says its mission is to support and facilitate the UK construction industry to increase the use of structural timber and bring further success to all stakeholders across the entire supply chain.
