PiGs charity challenge team completes second training walk

The team taking on the PiGs Charity Challenge 2026, including Modern Joinery News’ very own Sarah Ball and The Joinery Network Managing Director, Andy Ball, is building momentum, having successfully completed their second training session as they prepare for their trek along the Inca Trail this October in aid of Harry’s Pals.

On 9 May, many of the group came together to tackle Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, in what proved to be a rewarding day. The climb tested stamina with steep paths, scree stetches and endless stone steps.

Sarah Ball, organising the trip, said: “The team trainings are going really well. Scafell, the highest mountain in England, was a strong one for us. We had great team turnout, plus great support family and friends joined too. It really was a brilliant day.”

The training programme is part of the build-up to the PiGs AKA People in Glazing Society Machu PiGchu charity trek, which will see the team take on the famous Inca Trail from 2–11 October 2026.

The team isn’t slowing down. Their next challenge is already in sight.

“We are tackling Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland on 13 June,” added Sarah. “Highest mountains in England and Wales done, Scotland makes it a hattrick!”

With each training session, the group is getting closer to their ultimate goal, taking on one of the world’s most iconic treks while raising money for the PiGs Charity of the Year Harry’s Pals.

The team has already raised more than £10,000 towards the £70,000 goal. To support the team go to https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/pigsincatrail
