PWE and InstallerSHOW move could boost timber

With the latest info from Professional Woodworking Expo (PWE) coming out, Modern Joinery News’ Sarah Ball says it could give timber an opportunity to take the main stage.

“Two years ago, I came up with the idea to create a new online newsletter for the joinery supply chain. Coming from a glass and glazing background, I had worked closely with The Joinery Network. It meant I have seen first-hand the interest ramp up in timber windows and doors over the last few years.

“Modern Joinery News Editor George comes from a glazing background too, and we are both acutely aware that timber windows often sit apart from much of the glazing industry.

“Fast forward two years, and today Modern Joinery News is an established newsletter with 3,500 receiving the newsletter by email, plus another 1,300 people following us on LinkedIn. As part of our growth trajectory, we are excited to be media partners with PWE.

“The latest news about moving PWE to run alongside both the InstallerSHOW 2026 and Painting and Decorating Show means that it could attract a lot more visitors. If installers are already visiting the NEC, it makes sense for them to see what’s going on in the world of timber.

“Alongside this, FIT Show has embraced timber windows in its latest news update.

“There are lots of reasons that it’s happening – whether it’s the sustainability factor, councils demanding housing developers to include a proportion of homes with timber windows, paint performance making timber windows almost maintenance free for at least 10 years, new hardware to give great design choices in timber. But it does seem that the trend for timber really does seem to be here to stay.

“Putting PWE alongside InstallerSHOW and Painting and Decorating Show, could be the best opportunity to get the message about timber in front of a lot more people.

“At MJ News, we’ll keep you updated with everything that’s going on at PWE, and George and I will be at the NEC in person in June.”
