TTBS’ Christella Golby Shares Inaugural WIT Event Thoughts

In our series for Women in Timber, Christella Golby, General Manager at Timber Trades Benevolent Society, talked to MJ News about her thoughts about the inaugural Women in Timber (WIT) event at Oulton Hall in September.

Christalla said: “On Friday, 5 September, I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Women in Timber event at the beautiful Oulton Hall – and what a fantastic day it was!

“We were joined by 120 incredible women from across the timber industry. The event provided a unique opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers, share personal experiences and connect with like-minded professionals in a truly empowering environment. It was a celebration of the growing presence and influence of women across all areas of the timber industry.

“The timber industry has historically been male dominated, which has often presented a challenging environment for women. It is therefore vital that we continue to champion and support women, providing visible role models for the next generation to encourage them to consider a career in timber.

“Events such as Women in Timber play a vital role in showcasing strong role models, fostering inclusion and inspiring the next generation of women to see the timber industry as a place where they can thrive and lead.

“It’s clear that attitudes are changing and that can only be a positive step forward for everyone in the timber community.”

Christella added: “Our thanks to Laura Qualters and the Women in Timber committee for organising such a defining event. We’re proud to be part of a growing and supportive community of women making their mark in the timber industry.”

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch.
