The St Thomas Abseil 2025 is Nearly Here
At the time of writing, it is just over two weeks until Modern Joinery’s George Lewis and Sarah Ball, alongside friends and family, take part in the St Thomas’ Abseil, to raise money for our Charity of the Year, Evelina London Children’s Charity.
With fundraising in full flow, George spoke about how he is currently feeling, and what it means to be so close to the event.
He said: “It’s fair to say the nerves are starting to kick in with just over two weeks to go.
“Abseiling down 160ft is not something I’d say is high up on my agenda of normal things to do, but to be doing this for a charity so close to my heart means that alongside the nerves, there is a lot of excitement too.
“Evelina London are a brilliant charity, and to be able to not only do the abseil, but having also been able to volunteer for them as well this year is a real honour.
“This is all very new to me, but I’m determined to raise as much money as I can for them, and to also enjoy it. It’s not everyday you’ll get to see the sights of London from that height so that I’m really looking forward to (if I can open my eyes that is!).”
Every pound the team raise will help Evelina London do incredible things for sick children, young people and their families.
Children like George’s son Jude, who had a five and a half hour operation in November 2024 to remove the top half of Jude’s right kidney, after he was born with a duplex kidney.
A duplex kidney is a condition that requires careful monitoring and, in this case, surgery, which was done under Evelina London’s expert team.
The fundraising page for the abseil is now live, and George and the team would be very grateful for any donations that you can make.
