Women in Timber event launched

Timber Development UK has announced the launch of Women in Timber, a new event designed to celebrate, connect, and empower women working across all areas of the timber industry.

The inaugural event will take place on 5 September, 2025, at Oulton Hall Hotel in Leeds and is set to bring together professionals from forestry, manufacturing, design, and construction in a day focused on inclusion, inspiration, and opportunity.

A ‘dedicated space’ for women in the industry

Women in Timber aims to create a dedicated space where women in the industry can meet, share experiences, and support one another. The event will champion the achievements of women in the sector, while providing an open forum for discussion around the challenges they face and the opportunities available to drive change.

At the heart of the initiative is a commitment to three core objectives: inspiring and empowering women by showcasing success stories and creating opportunities for professional development; building a strong and inclusive community within the timber sector; and encouraging learning by addressing career progression, industry barriers, and leadership development.

The programme promises a compelling mix of keynote talks, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. Attendees can expect a full day of meaningful engagement, with sessions designed to foster both personal growth and practical insight. There will be opportunities to connect with peers, mentors, and industry leaders, as well as time to reflect on the personal journeys that have shaped careers in timber.

A better future

Guests will enjoy refreshments throughout the day, a two-course lunch, and access to a charity raffle featuring a range of prizes. Tickets are priced at £70 plus VAT.

With the launch of Women in Timber, Timber Development UK says it is taking a bold step toward building a more diverse and resilient future for the industry. The event is expected to draw significant interest from across the sector and marks the beginning of what promises to be an ongoing movement for change.
