RW Joinery bring Christmas cheer to hospital children’s ward

When Stockport-based RW Joinery was asked if it would donate Christmas gifts to the children’s ward at Stepping Hill Hospital by main contractor Tilbury Douglas, there wasn’t a moment of hesitation.

It’s outside the usual remit of manufacturing, installing and maintaining fire door sets for clients across the UK, but RW Joinery’s Project Manager, Brian Band, was keen to get involved. He personally shopped for and delivered toys and advent calendars to the hospital.

Brian said: “We didn’t hesitate to give back to the local community. I think that Christmas is the toughest time for children staying in hospital, so we were happy to help.”

The response from the Tilbury Douglas team has been truly heartwarming. Tilbury Douglas’ Social Value Coordinator, Chloe Roberts, said to RW Joinery via LinkedIn: “A huge thank you for getting behind us and supporting our Christmas appeal. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

Another member of the Tilbury Douglas team added: “Just wanted to say a big thanks for the generous donation on Stepping Hill, it really does go a long way and will be muchly appreciated by everyone involved.”

It’s a small gesture, but it makes a big difference!
