£1,760 Raised for Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society at WIT Event

£1,760 Raised for Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society at WIT Event

At the very first Women in Timber (WIT) event on 5 September 2025, the generosity in the room was truly inspiring. Thanks to the attendees, the raffle raised £1,760 for the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society (TTBS).

On top of this, Women in Timber has pledged a further £1,000 – bringing the total to £2,760 to support colleagues across the industry who may be facing hardship.

TTBS provides vital financial and wellbeing support to those in the timber trade during difficult times – whether through illness, bereavement, or sudden change in circumstance. Its work reminds us that no one in our industry should ever feel alone.

Christella Golby, General Manager at Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society said: “Our sincere thanks to the 120 incredible women from across the timber industry who attended the inaugural Women in Timber event, raising £2,760 for the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society.  These funds will go directly toward supporting TTBS beneficiaries and making their lives that little bit easier.”

Laura Qualters from Women in Timber, added: “A huge thank you to Christella & Michelle from TTBS, who joined us on the day to share more about the charity’s invaluable work. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed – your support will make a real difference.

“We’re also delighted to announce that Women in Timber is now an official patron of TTBS. We are so proud to become a patron and help to support such an important charity as we continue to grow our WIT community.”
