FUHR scoops ‘Best Brand of the Year’ award

FUHR, who develops mechanical, automatic and motorised multipoint locking solutions alongside smart access technologies for timber, aluminium, steel and PVC-U doors, has been named ‘Best Brand of the Year 2026’ by the PLUS X AWARD jury, following the nomination of its SmartTouch KeylessGo access solution.

The PLUS X AWARD is an international innovation award recognising brands and products across technology and other sectors.

Products are assessed by independent specialist juries against criteria including innovation, quality, design, functionality, ease of use, ergonomics and ecology, with ‘Best Brand of the Year’ awarded as one of its annual special distinctions.

While SmartTouch brought FUHR to the attention of the jury, the recognition extended beyond the individual product.

FUHR’s continued product development, innovative strength and market presence were all highlighted as part of the award.

SmartTouch demonstrates that approach to product development. The KeylessGo access solution allows an authorised user to unlock the door with a deliberate touch of the handle or integrated sensor, with the opening signal sent to the FUHR motorised multipoint locking system.

The technology can be incorporated discreetly into different handle and sensor configurations and works alongside FUHR SmartAccess.

The system also reflects a wider shift towards integrating access technology into the door itself, giving door manufacturers, fabricators and specifiers a more considered alternative to treating access as a separate add-on.

Paul Balfe, Business Development Manager at FUHR UK, said: “SmartTouch highlights how FUHR approaches access technology with the whole supply chain in mind.

“It has to be straightforward to specify and integrate, work naturally as part of the door and be simple for the end user. All of that has to sit alongside the security people expect from a multipoint locking system.

“For the jury to look beyond the nominated product and recognise FUHR as a whole makes this particularly significant.

“It reflects the continued development taking place across the range, as well as the work of the people and partners behind the brand.”

The award is also said to recognis the wider contribution of FUHR’s employees, customers and partners, whose input supports the ongoing development of locking and access solutions for residential and commercial door applications.

With more than 165 years of experience in door locking systems, FUHR continues to
