Timber expert takes the mainstage at FIT Show

Andy Ball, Founder Director at The Joinery Network was the timber expert for the materials debate at FIT Show.

Alongside Russell Yates championing aluminium, and Phil Parry promoting PVC-U windows, the three speakers discussed both common issues relating to the glazing industry in general and more specifically the differences between the materials.

There was general agreement that some homes and house styles require a particular material, but many installations are simply down to homeowner or installer preference. Cost is one factor in choosing however not often the top priority especially now most installations are not distress purchases. Which means they all have their place in the market.

FIT Show ambassador, builder and joiner Robin Clevett was the moderator. His knowledge of all three materials, meant that the questioning was interesting and the debate informative.

Andy said: “For The Joinery Network to be the timber systems house chosen to go alongside ALUK and Epwin Window Systems was a real opportunity to place timber windows back into the mainstream. We saw an increased interest in timber running up to the FIT show, and a huge number of people visiting the TJN Timber Zone were looking to discuss adding both manufacture or installation of timber windows to their existing fabrication and installation businesses.

“Choosing to add timber gives companies the opportunity to quote for every job that comes towards them. Lignum timber windows and doors offer good profitability, and adding a fully certified system through TJN is easy, with low initial investment costs as well as technical and marketing know-how.

“I have known both Russell and Phil for many years, and it was great to be on the stage with them.”

The debate was part of the FIT Show’s speaker programme and was designed to give added value to visitors to the show.
