Women in Timber to host menopause webinar

Women in Timber to host menopause webinar

A free webinar addressing menopause in the workplace, hosted by Sophie Turner of YesSheCan, in collaboration with Women in Timber, is set to take place in February.

The webinar was set up following growing discussion within the timber sector about the need for greater awareness and support of the menopause.

Menopause is a natural life stage that affects millions of women, yet it remains widely misunderstood and often under discussed, particularly at work. Symptoms can impact physical health, mental wellbeing and confidence, making open and informed conversation increasingly important for both individuals and employers.

The topic was first raised by several attendees at the inaugural Women in Timber event, sparking further reflection on how menopause affects women across the industry. In response, organisers have arranged a dedicated webinar to explore the subject in more depth and provide practical, supportive guidance.

The session will offer clear insight into what menopause is and why it happens, how to recognise the signs and symptoms, and the different stages women may experience. It will also look at how menopause can affect life at work and at home, consider whether there can be positives, and share practical tips to help manage symptoms effectively.

The aim of the webinar is to help women feel informed, supported and empowered, while also encouraging a more open dialogue within workplaces across the sector.

The webinar is free to attend. To register, email Karen Sussex at ksussex@timberdevelopment.uk. Registration closes at 4pm on 23 February 2026.

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch. With scrutiny and regulations tightening, he argues that specification, installation and maintenance need to be treated as seriously as the doors themselves because firemongery is frontline safety.
