UK Industrial Tapes’ Matthew Welch to Run Dublin Marathon 2025

Matthew Welch, Sales and Marketing Manager at UK Industrial Tapes, will take on the Dublin Marathon on 26 October 2025, raising funds and awareness for Mental Health UK, a cause close to his heart.

Matthew’s entry into the world of endurance running marks more than a personal challenge. It represents a deeply personal mission. “Running has become my therapy,” says Matthew. “It’s tough at first, but with time and compassion toward yourself, it becomes easier and eventually, something you genuinely enjoy.”

This journey began in 2022 following the tragic loss of a close family friend, Josh Van Leader, to suicide. “Josh was a larger-than-life personality, a uniquely talented individual, and someone I had the privilege of growing up with. He left us far too soon.”

Josh’s legacy continues through joshuavanleader.com, a platform dedicated to mental health advocacy and creative inspiration.

Matthew’s Dublin Marathon debut is just the beginning. He has set an ambitious long-term goal of completing the Abbott World Marathon Majors: Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York, in Josh’s name. Dublin will serve as the starting line of this tribute, supported by a robust training schedule including the Endurance Northumberland Half Marathon, the Allendale Challenge, and the Great North Run.

Through this initiative, Matthew hopes to encourage open conversations around mental health, reduce stigma, and raise vital funds for Mental Health UK.
