The floor is more with JFJ Wood Flooring

When Tom Fanthorpe of Joinery Network affiliate partner JF Joinery & JFJ Wood Flooring headed to the NEC in Birmingham for the recent Materials and Finishes Show (MAFS), it was the first time he had visited a trade show for many years.

The aims of the show for Tom and his father John, who is also an experienced joiner, was to give other joinery companies their unbiased view of joining the Joinery Network, and how introducing the Lignum range to the business has benefited their company. The second reason was to promote the flooring side of their business.

JF Joinery has been joinery manufacturers for over 45 years, with over half of those years, giving customers to the chance to upsell and offer wood flooring.

Tom explained that the offer of wood flooring was firstly as a by-product to the company’s joinery items, but fast forward to the present day, JF Joinery now has a dedicated flooring division, named JFJ Wood Flooring.

Tom explained that there is a large cross over with joinery and wood flooring, which most joinery companies are simply not tapping in to.

The goal both at the show and day-to-day has been to try and highlight this cross over to other joinery companies and explain how he could help these joinery companies make more profit by also offering wood flooring with next to no commitment from them. Flooring enquiries could be done in-house by them, or simply by referring their customers to JFJ, and getting paid a commission. He explains this in more detail here: https://www.jfjwoodflooring.co.uk/trade-nec-show-24/

He felt that overall, heading to MAFS was a good decision. Alongside offering his and his father’s expertise, he explained that there were other notable parts of the show.

This included the Passiv Glass display by fellow Joinery Network partner The Vacuum Glazing Network, which he said ‘worked exceptionally well to attract people attention and start conversation and really demonstrated the impressive efficiency of the glass’.

Tom concluded: “I think the show was great. There is nothing better than meeting people face to face and I think the Joinery Network stand had a good offering of a variety of joinery related businesses. I think for me it was also a new challenged, a learning curve and I will look forward to the opportunity of come again in 2026.”.

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch.
