Scotts Make Two New Appointments

Scotts of Thrapston has announced two new appointments at the company, with Matt Korny appointed Operations Manager, and Allan Lowe as Head of Health and Safety.

Matt has joined the company boasting 25 years of experience in the timber manufacturing sector, having progressed through various roles in production, logistics, sales, design and strategic leadership.

James Scott, Scotts of Thrapston Managing Director, commented on the appointment: “I know Matt will apply his considerable experience to developing our ability to deliver excellence as a standard across our manufacturing base. This appointment allows us to take the business – already over 100 years old – to the next level.”

Matt himself is pleased to have joined Scotts. He said: “The atmosphere and opportunities a business like Scotts offers are very appealing.

“The quality of the garden rooms, equestrian and other timber facilities the talented teams here create is some of the best production work I have ever seen and I’m excited to be in a position where I can help the business grow without compromising that dedication to quality.”

Matt is married with two daughters and lives near the Thrapston site on the Cambridgeshire border. Work-life balance is said to be key to Matt, spending quality time with his family, with whom he undertakes many practical adventures including sailing on nearby Rutland Water and their newest challenge, taking on an allotment.

Also joining the team is Allan Lowe, who joined Scotts of Thrapston and Scotts Timber Engineering as Head of Health and Safety. An experienced and qualified Health, Safety and Environmental Practitioner, he is said to have significant experience in both single site and multi-site operations.

As he looks to build on the safety of Scotts’ operational and manufacturing systems and processes, Allan will also be identifying training needs as required across the company’s two sites.

Allan explained that first impressions of Scotts was that “the manufacturing operation are very positive”, and he said he was also looking forward to getting out to some of the sites where Scotts’ equestrian team working on installations.

As a Chartered Member of IOSH and with a Diploma in Occupational Health, Allan also brings with him working knowledge and experience of working with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 50001 standards as well as maintaining integrated risk management systems.

Outside of work Allan lives in Rushden, only a few miles from Scotts’ Head Office, and is an avid Formula One fan, following the Red Bull team.

Scotts welcomes both to the team.
