Save the Date: Second Women in Timber Annual Seminar

The date for the second annual Women in Timber (WIT) seminar has been set for 1 October 2026.

The timber industry, like many others in construction and manufacturing, has traditionally been male dominated.

Women in Timber (WIT) is changing that. This inspiring network is dedicated to celebrating, connecting, and empowering women across every part of the timber supply chain.

WIT provides a supportive platform where women can meet, network, share experiences, discuss challenges, and inspire one another.

Alongside regular webinars on important industry topics, the flagship annual seminar is the highlight of the calendar — and the next one is set for 1 October 2026.

The seminar will bring together women from across the timber sector for a day of learning, collaboration, and empowerment. Spaces will be limited, so make sure you mark the date in your diary.

Membership of the Women in Timber network is free. Some events, including the seminar, carry a small attendance fee, with all profits donated to the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society (TTBS) to support their vital work.

As press partners, Modern Joinery News is keen to support women in the industry. If you are a woman working in timber, WIT would love you to be part of this growing network.

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch. With scrutiny and regulations tightening, he argues that specification, installation and maintenance need to be treated as seriously as the doors themselves because firemongery is frontline safety.
