Kenrick’s Excalibur shoot bolt system is Secured by Design approved and can comfortably satisfy the requirements of PAS 24, 2012. It delivers first rate security features for the homeowner and ease of installation for the installer. Durable and reliable, it’s a multi-point locking system that benefits from steel shoot bolts, a robust unhanded die-cast gearbox and bi-directional die-cast claws.
Excalibur benefits from three specially developed lock and keep sets (with 20mm, 22mm or 25mm backsets) to enable it to fit either stormproof, fully reversible or flush casement timber windows.
The four point locking mechanism of Excalibur sits neat and flush with the timber window, with no protruding parts from the sash. This prevents the locking elements, two central security claws and two steel shoot bolts, from fouling on the frame or keep – a major problem with timber windows when the timber changes shape over time. Plastic packers have also been developed to allow for use on bevelled profiles.
The Excalibur system sits entirely flush even when the window is open, so there is no danger of any parts catching when the window is closed. This also means that windows only require a very small air gap, which significantly improves the security and weather seal on the flush casement. This novel feature is achieved with Kenrick’s bespoke striker plate to maintain the high security that the Excalibur system has become well known for.
It has been function tested to 100,000 full cycles (open/close, lock/unlock) and also exceeds the requirements of BS EN 1670: 2007 Grade 4 (severe) rating for salt spray corrosion resistance.
