Leitz Tooling launches new tooling solution
Leitz Tooling has introduced a new joinery tool to its range, the HeliCut Monoblock – for stable milling and drilling within one joinery tooling solution.
Taking the concept of shrink fit collets chucks one step further, this tool boasts a monolithic design, making the tool very stable and dampening vibrations for lower noise and longer tool life. Equipped with 4-sided turnblade knives for fast knife changes and reduced downtime, it can be used for various applications such as drilling holes, pockets, tenons and rebates in perfect quality, eliminating downtime from tool changes between applications and increasing productivity.
The Monoblock tool body has also been designed to assist with extraction thanks to recesses built into the tool body that are engineered to improve the air flow from any attached extraction device.
The HeliCut Monoblock also reduces downtime thanks to many factors – the fast knife change system means that manufacturers can change over the knives, even whilst it is mounted on a machine. It also reduces downtime as the same tool can be used for multiple applications – meaning less tool changes and overall reduced costs for tooling as less tools are needed for the same workload.
The improved geometry means that users get a reliable clean result from drilling and also the tool creates less friction thanks to the polished cutting edges. This means that in addition to being independently safety tested to the international standard BS EN-847, their innovative design significantly reduces the risk of fire hazards.
The Helicut Monoblock from Leitz Tooling is also designed to be serviced in house through simple knife changes, resulting in machinists and woodworkers saving time and costs from sending their tools off to be sharpened.
The HeliCut Monoblock also benefits from a very sustainable life cycle. Manufactured from recycled materials such as tungsten carbide from the global Leitz tool recycling programme and supported by solar power, the tool is manufactured using a sustainable approach.
Thanks to the Leitz tool recycling programme, the tool body and all of the carbide knives can also be recycled independently or through the Leitz tool recycling programme, creating a circular economy that significantly reduces environmental impact across the life of the tool.
