GB Joinery: Crafting Quality Timber Windows and Doors Since 1967

With a heritage spanning more than five decades and expertise that runs generations deep, GB Joinery is bringing premium timber windows and doors to installers nationwide – backed by unmatched industry knowledge and an unwavering commitment to quality.

When Lee Parrott talks timber, people listen. It’s not just that he’s spent his entire working life – since the age of 19 – immersed in every aspect of the joinery business. It’s that timber windows and doors are quite literally in his DNA.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship

The story begins in 1967, when Lee’s grandfather Doug established what would eventually become Reddish Joinery, working out of a modest garage crafting bespoke wooden products. By the 1970s, the business had expanded into its first commercial unit, and in 1972, became a limited company.

When Lee’s father Mike took the reins in the 1980s, the company began specialising in windows and doors, even developing a proprietary glazing system – an innovation that demonstrated the family’s commitment to advancing the craft.

“What makes us different is that we’ve lived and breathed this business from both sides,” explains Lee, who joined the family enterprise in 2000. “I’ve been a fitter, service engineer, surveyor, and salesperson. When we tell an installer that a product will work in a particular way or meet specific requirements, it comes from decades of hands-on experience.”

Strategic Expansion

In 2022, Reddish Joinery acquired GB Joinery, a strategic move that Lee describes as a natural evolution. “The quality of GB’s products and manufacturing capabilities was immediately impressive,” he notes. “We saw an opportunity to bring that exceptional craftsmanship to the trade market.”

With GB Joinery now focused exclusively on supplying trade customers, the company is leveraging its manufacturing expertise to offer installers a compelling timber product that meets contemporary demands.

The GB Joinery Advantage

For installers already working with timber, GB Joinery offers a refreshingly reliable partner with impressive 4-6 week lead times – notably quick for the sector. For those looking to add timber to their product range, the company provides comprehensive installation training and ongoing support.

“The timber market offers tremendous opportunities for installers,” says Lee, who spent time in Australia in 2017-2018 promoting Accoya, the market-leading modified timber that features prominently in GB’s product range. “With materials like Accoya, we’re offering products that combine traditional beauty with exceptional performance.”

GB Joinery’s windows achieve U-values of 1.2, meeting contemporary energy efficiency demands while offering the aesthetic advantages that only genuine timber can provide.

The Installer’s Perspective

What truly distinguishes GB Joinery is its unique insight into the end-user experience. Having operated Reddish Joinery’s retail business for decades, Lee and his wife Caroline (who joined the company in 2015) understand exactly what homeowners expect.

“That perspective is invaluable to our trade customers,” Lee explains. “We know what questions end users will ask, what features they value, and how the products perform in real-world conditions. Our installers benefit from that knowledge.”

Caroline describes the company culture as “loyal, honest, hardworking, and committed to quality” – values that extend from Reddish’s retail operations to GB’s trade supply business.

British-Made Excellence

With all products manufactured in Britain, GB Joinery combines traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques. The company is now inviting window and door installers across the UK to discover the benefits of partnering with a genuine timber specialist.

“Whether you’re already selling timber products or considering adding them to your range, we’d welcome the conversation,” says Lee. “This isn’t just about superior windows and doors – it’s about partnering with a supplier who truly understands your business challenges and can help you meet the growing demand for quality timber products.”
