Appreciating Apprenticeships at Precision Carpentry and Joinery

James Tonry, Managing Director at Precision Carpentry and Joinery, talks about apprenticeships, and why the company is growing the team by offering this new position.

“In joinery, skills are passed on through doing, not just reading. That’s why apprenticeships are so important. They’re one of the few ways people can truly learn the craft by getting stuck in, developing hands-on skills, and gaining confidence alongside experienced joiners.

“More than that, apprenticeships keep the trade alive. Joinery is a craft that depends on skills being passed down. If we don’t take the time to teach it, we risk losing not just techniques, but the quality, pride, and care that comes with it.

“For businesses like ours, apprentices bring fresh energy, new ideas, and a real desire to learn. We’ve seen first-hand how much value an apprentice can bring. By giving them support and guidance, they quickly become a key part of the team and often go on to mentor others in turn.

“We’re passionate about creating an environment where young people can grow, learn, and shape their career.”

Precision Carpentry & Joinery is currently looking for an apprentice joiner to work from its busy workshop in Haverhill, Suffolk.

To apply, CVs should be sent to administration@carpentryjoinery.co.uk
