A year of optimism in 2026 for Modern Joinery News

George Lewis, Editor of Modern Joinery News, discusses a strong year for the publication in 2025, and excitement and optimism for what’s to come in the coming year.

As we step into a new year, it feels a good moment to reflect on what was a positive and progressive year for us at Modern Joinery News, and excitement of what’s to come in 2026 within the joinery and timber sectors.

Throughout 2025, it’s fair to say the industry demonstrated resilience, adaptability and a real willingness to invest in its future, even in the face of ongoing challenges.

From Modern Joinery News’ perspective, 2025 was defined by building up the foundations for the brand, and really bringing the news that sometimes goes unnoticed to the eyes of our growing audience.

This was confirmed by a dramatic increase in followers and interactions on social media, an increased opening and click rates on our newsletter, which culminated in a whopping 37% open rate for our last newsletter of 2025.

Looking ahead to what’s to come this year, there is a strong sense of optimism.

The year promises to be a busy and exciting one for us, with new projects and collaborations already taking shape.

A key date in the diary for us will be the Professional Woodworking Expo, which takes place between 17 – 19 May 2026 at the NEC, Birmingham.

PWE remains an important platform for us to discover new technologies, new products and new connections, and to be able to strengthen our relationships across the supply chain.

We are also looking forward to championing the Women in Timber event, which Modern Joinery’s Founder Sarah attended last year and will do again this year.

Our focus for 2026 is clear. We will continue to champion the people and businesses driving the sector forward, share stories that matter, and stay closely connected to the industry by being out in the field and at key events.

With the foundations laid in 2025, the year ahead offers real opportunity for growth, collaboration and continued progress.

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch. With scrutiny and regulations tightening, he argues that specification, installation and maintenance need to be treated as seriously as the doors themselves because firemongery is frontline safety.
