Allan Brothers introduces Heritage sash window

Allan Brothers has introduced a Heritage Sash Window, designed for listed properties and period homes located in Conservation Areas and regions of natural beauty.

As the latest addition to its Crafted Range of windows and doors, this solid-timber sash window draws on the company’s 200-year history of timber craftsmanship to reproduce the traditional joinery of historic sash windows.

Each window is made to measure in Redwood/Red Grandis and crafted to mirror the proportions of the original designs, with period detailing.

Depending on the age and style of the property, homeowners can choose between a refined version of the traditional cords-and-weights mechanism found in older houses and modern spiral balances suited to properties with smaller reveals or restricted spaces.

Period features include hand-applied external beading that mimics old putty lines, a 40mm mid rail, and 14mm energy-efficient Heritage double glazing designed to replicate the look of historic glass with a ‘single-reflection’.

The sashes can be configured with Georgian, Victorian, or Edwardian-style glazing bars, using 24mm solid timber through-bars that create the appearance of panes that are individually glazed.

Further customisation options include decorative horns, period-style hardware, a range of heritage colours and discreet trickle vents designed to blend in with the building’s exterior.

Morten Bach Valsted, Allan Brothers Managing Director said:  “We’ve put a lot of research into developing a traditional sash window that’s high-performance and suitable for conservation areas.

“With our Heritage Sash Window, we believe we have achieved the perfect balance between modern performance and creating a truly authentic look.”
