TJN’s Lignum timber windows and doors prove at big draw at PWE

TJN’s Lignum timber windows and doors prove at big draw at PWE

The Joinery Network (TJN) enjoyed three highly successful days at Professional Woodworking Expo at the NEC, with a steady flow of visitors exploring how to meet growing demand for timber windows and doors while tackling the ongoing skills shortages and preparing for increasing regulatory requirements of Futures Homes Standards and Document Q.

Showcasing its Lignum timber window and door range reportedly proved to be a big draw for joinery manufacturers looking for practical, proven solutions to improve productivity and expand their businesses.

Live demos

One of the biggest attractions was the live manufacturing demonstrations, where Technical Director, Owen Dare produced Lignum timber windows using a Martin T12 Spindle Moulder and Vertongen Pentho 4 High Performance Tenoner machinery, supplied by Markfield Woodworking Machinery and equipped with Leitz Tooling UK tooling.

Andy Ball, Managing Director of The Joinery Network, said: “Visitors wanted to understand the complete manufacturing process.

“Seeing the machinery, tooling and Lignum system working together gave them confidence that they could introduce or expand timber window and door production efficiently.”

The close partnership between The Joinery Network, Markfield Woodworking Machinery, Vertongen and Leitz Tooling UK demonstrated how collaboration across the supply chain helps manufacturers improve consistency, reduce waste and increase productivity.

Lignum Door Debut

The new Lignum Timber Door Collection featuring decorative glass from RegaLead was the showstopper on the TJN stand.

Backed up with impressive AI driven marketing tools, this new product range makes it easy to sell wooden doors.

Partner RegaLead also had a separate stand, demonstrating more of the glass options available for timber doors, while Joinerysoft demonstrated how every TJN product is integrated into its cloud-based software platform, streamlining quoting and production management.

Knowledge sharing was another highlight of the exhibition.

Following the well-attended seminar, From Frames to Fabric: Why Whole Window Performance is the Route to Compliance, The Joinery Network returned to the stage on Thursday for From Workshop to System: How Joinery Manufacturers Are Scaling Without More Labour.

Hosted by Robin Clevett, the discussion brought together Gavin Cooper of Markfield Woodworking Machinery, Steve Winscott of Nine-Zero Trading, Brian Maddox of Leitz Tooling UK, Erin Woodger of Wealden Joinery and Andy Ball of The Joinery Network.

Increased production of up to four times

The panel explored how manufacturers can overcome labour shortages, improve production consistency and embrace systemised production using digital technology and artificial intelligence.

By combining proven machinery, precision tooling and integrated manufacturing systems, businesses can achieve production efficiencies of up to four times while increasing the value of genuinely bespoke timber windows and doors.

Andy said: “Professional Woodworking Expo showed that manufacturers are thinking strategically about the future. They’re looking beyond individual products and investing in complete systems that help them work smarter.

“The industry faces two significant challenges: keeping pace with changing legislation and overcoming the shortage of skilled labour.

“Manufacturers who invest now in systemised production, certified products and digital technologies will be better placed to improve productivity, maintain quality and protect margins.

“That was the message running through everything we demonstrated during the exhibition.

“By bringing together machinery, tooling, software, AI and a fully tested window and door system, we’re giving joinery manufacturers a practical route to future-proof their businesses.”

AI comes of age at PWE 2026

Erin Woodger, Founder of JoineryAI, explains how there was great interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from visitors to this year’s Professional Woodworking Expo (PWE), and what it can do bring to the joinery sector. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has dominated headlines for the past two years, but for many joinery businesses it has remained something of… Continue reading AI comes of age at PWE 2026
