SGP Raise Funds on Memorial Walk in Honour of Late Colleague

A team from Specialist Glass Products (SGP) has raised £1,320 for Pancreatic Cancer UK through a memorial walk honouring their late colleague, Ian McKniff.

The memorial walk took place on Sunday 7 September, where more than 40 people and three dogs, including colleagues, friends and family of Ian, set off from Golcar Cricket Club in Huddersfield, less than 2 miles from SGP’s HQ. The 10-kilometre circular walk took the group through scenic fields, quiet roads, and along the canal, complete with a mid-way refreshment stop. The day began with bacon sandwiches and coffee and ended with a well-earned pint to toast Ian’s memory.

“It was a fantastic day and a wonderful tribute to Ian,” said Andrew Taylor, Managing Director at Specialist Glass Products. “Our team, their families, and friends come together to share stories about Ian and support Pancreatic Cancer UK was incredibly moving. Ian’s wife, Alison, and their family were touched by the love and laughter that filled the day.”

Andrew added: “Raising a glass to Ian while raising much-needed funds felt like the perfect way to celebrate his life. We are so proud of our team and the generosity of everyone who took part or donated.”

The final total for the charity was £1,320 which included a matched donation pledge from SGP to further support the Pancreatic Cancer UK’s vital work.

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch.
