Hawker Joinery Adds TJN’s Lignum Range to Aid Future Growth

After seeing the benefits of joining The Joinery Network (TJN) at the Open Day hosted by Teknos earlier this year, Hawker Joinery has become the latest member to manufacture and install the Lignum range of timber windows and doors.

Having outgrown its previous workshop and offices, Hawker Joinery has invested nearly £1.5 million in new premises to create a brand-new, state-of-the-art joinery shop, showroom and offices.

Mitchell Thomas, Director at Hawker Joinery, explained why they chose Lignum from TJN as their new standard range: “As a joinery business, we are focused on manufacturing and installing bespoke windows and doors for listed buildings – and we are very good at it.

“Because of our reputation, we were being approached by homeowners wanting timber windows, but they didn’t need a fully bespoke solution. We have been on the lookout for a top-quality, fully certified range of timber windows and doors for a while, and Lignum delivers that brilliantly.

“Since taking over a fourth-generation, 96-year-old business nearly 10 years ago, we have steadily expanded Hawker Joinery. As sales and installations increased, we grew the team from six to 25 employees, including two installation teams, and that’s why we needed to have bigger premises.

“Luke, my fellow Director, and I are both young and we are focused on our goal to double again in size. We believe that much of this growth will come from adding Lignum as our standard range of windows and doors. These windows conform to all the latest building regulations and are perfect for people looking for top-quality timber windows – but without the bespoke price tag.

“It wasn’t just the products that attracted us to TJN. The knowledge and understanding of the joinery sector from Owen Dare, Andy Ball and Luke Piper gives us real peace of mind.”

Mitchell added: “The future looks good. We have already had the initial training from Owen, and we are looking forward to working more closely with the team at TJN and growing our business by adding the Lignum range of timber windows and doors.”

UAP says firemongery “should be treated seriously”

Elliott Dawson, National Accounts Manager at UAP, explains why firemongery is more than a finishing touch. With scrutiny and regulations tightening, he argues that specification, installation and maintenance need to be treated as seriously as the doors themselves because firemongery is frontline safety.
