AMS Champions Safety and Skills with Machinery Training

Advanced Machinery Services (AMS) has highlighted the vital role of professional training in helping joiners, timber merchants, and furniture makers across the UK and Ireland work more safely, efficiently, and confidently.

Over years of visiting workshops nationwide, AMS has seen the difference structured training can make.

One joinery company in the North of the UK recently revealed that, despite decades of experience, its team had never received formal training on certain saws and moulders.

Following an AMS session, one machinist said: “I’ve been using this spindle moulder for 15 years, and today I learned something new that will make my job safer and easier.”

Such feedback is said to underline AMS’s mission to improve safety and performance across the woodworking sector.

Unlike traditional trainers, AMS instructors are experienced engineers and woodworkers with years of hands-on expertise repairing, maintaining, and running machines. This practical background ensures that every course is grounded in real-world challenges and solutions.

AMS offers training on a wide range of machines, including planers, moulders, saws, sanders, and chainsaws.

Courses can take place on-site at a customer’s own workshop, minimising downtime, or at the Wadkin Bursgreen Academy in Leicestershire, where teams from different companies train together and share best practice.

Each course provides staff with valuable new skills and a five-year certificate, helping businesses demonstrate compliance with health and safety standards.
