XL Joinery Enters Administration

XL Joinery, a long‑standing UK manufacturer and supplier of timber doors, has officially entered administration.

A Trusted Timber Specialist

Operating from Birstall in Batley, West Yorkshire, XL Joinery was established in August 1999 and is said to have built its reputation on quality craftsmanship and innovation in internal and external wooden door production. It served a wide range of clients including national housebuilders, architects, local tradespeople and homeowners.

It also was a sustainability advocate, having been carbon neutral since 2018, and had sponsored projects across the globe including helping with the construction of a hydropower plant in Chile, installation of solar cookers in rural China to reduce reliance on the fossil fuels needed to cook food, and an international reforestation scheme in Kenya.

Product Range and Expertise

The company offered an extensive portfolio covering both joinery and fenestration requirements, including: external high‑performance timber doorsets, pre‑finished and fire‑rated door kits, and bespoke services for custom sizing and configurations tailored to large commercial schemes.

XL Joinery was also said to be known for its fire‑rated solutions such as the Simpli Advanced doorset range developed in partnership with ASSA ABLOY and its subsidiaries, offering fully integrated hardware and certified performance

Administration Details

The appointment of an administrator was confirmed on 14 July 2025.

The company had previously changed its registered office address on 15 July 2025 from its West Yorkshire base to C/O RRS Department, S&W Partners LLP in London and submitted an administrators’ proposal on the same date.

Industry Impact

This development changes the landscape for timber door supply across the UK. XL Joinery had been reportedly been delivering around 600,000 doors annually through its merchant and retail network. As with any news like this, its the company going into administration raises uncertainty for major projects and longstanding trade partnerships that relied on its product range and technical support.
