Meet: Andy Ball

Name: Andy Ball

Job Title: Joint MD / Founder Director

Company: Balls2 Marketing / The Joinery Network

How long have you been in the industry for? I’ve been in construction for more than 30 years, starting in roofing, then into glazing and timber has progressively been a bigger part of what I do.

What was your first impressions of the timber industry? That many joinery companies weren’t able to compete in the window and door market as the costs of obtaining certification and legal compliance is too onerous where there are smaller volumes of manufacture.

What is your favourite part about your job? Meeting people.

And the least favourite part about the job? Emails – we all get far too many!

How important is the Joinery Network to the sector? As a Founder Director of The Joinery Network, our joint goal was to help joinery companies manufacture a fully certified and compliant timber windows and doors. Today, we can see the companies using the Lignum system along with the support and training from The Joinery Network are finding that windows and doors can be the most profitable products they make.

And lastly, if you had to describe our industry in three words, what would they be? Sustainable, authentic and passionate
