Kelly’s Heroes Climb Kilimanjaro team reach £27,000 raised

The Kelly’s Heroes Climb Kilimanjaro team have reached a significant milestone recently after reaching £27,000 raised, over half way towards their target of £50,000.

16 ‘Heroes’, which includes Founder Partner of the Joinery Network Andy Ball and 14 others, are taking on Mount Kilimanjaro in September to raise funds for the mental health and suicide prevention charity, Kelly’s Heroes.

The Kilimanjaro challenge is the main activity for fundraising this year, and the team are deep into their training as well as fundraising at every available opportunity.

After 11 of the team made it to the top of Scafell Pike in May, attention now turns to the Yorkshire Three Peak challenge in July.

Gareth Jones, Managing Director of Solar Fabrications and Chair of FENSA, is part of the 16-strong team and has recently taken over as the “top fundraiser” in the group, going past an impressive £5,000 individually.

He said: “I think I can speak on behalf of the whole team and say how overwhelmed we are at already reaching £27,000.

This speaks volumes about the generosity of our industry, especially when, as we know, some of the sector are going through a tough 2024. Despite this, they are willing to part with money to raise funds for a charity as vital to our industry as Kelly’s Heroes is.

“And on a personal basis, I am personally so thankful to those that have already donated to me, and because of that generosity, I have already increased my personal target to £7,500. And I know that with just under three months to go, with the help of this wonderful industry, I am confident of reaching it.”

But the team know that the fundraising doesn’t stop here and will be pushing forwards in the coming weeks and months to reach their target or even pass it.
